Moving Here

Moving here was a great decision for me if only because I got some independence. I love my parents but they’ve been smothering me for the last few years since they think I’m pretty immature as they’ve made clear in no uncertain terms. My mom in particular thinks I need help handling my day to day tasks and she’s always sending me emails telling me she signed me up for electronic bill pay or that I should go to homeSECURITYsystem.com. I mean, I appreciate the help but it’s not really meant as help, it’s more of a lack of confidence that they have in me. I just don’t understand why they think that at my age I can’t make my own decisions and handle myself – I’m a grown man and it’s not like I’ve got any big problems. I think it’s just because I’m an only child that they worry a lot about me and my future but you know, there’s something to be said for physical distance which is what I got when I moved!

#Heelys Skate Shoes Review

by Bridget on November 15, 2011

My nine year old has been begging for a pair of Heelys after seeing other kids skating around town. If you aren’t familiar with Heely’s they are shoes that have a single wheel in the bottom of each shoe. In order to roll on them you have to lean back on the heels of your feet. We were super excited when Heelys offered us a pair to review. My son choose the Edge style in blue and yellow.

The shoes come disassembled but it’s incredibly quick and easy to get them set up. Each shoe has a plug over the space where the wheel goes that you remove with the included tool. To remove the plug you insert the included tool into the slot and apply pressure down and the plug pops out. To insert the wheel you align it over the bracket and press down or take your fist and hit it. You want to make sure the wheel is aligned correctly in the bracket and rolls freely. Have your child to stomp on their heels to ensure the wheels are in securely before they get started.

My son was incredibly scared he would fall so we allowed him to roll around in the house to learn how to use them. He still hasn’t quiet got the hang of it yet so we haven’t ventured outside with them yet. It is recommended that you wear safety gear (helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads) and children should always be supervised when wearing the shoes. Just like any other skates there is a risk of injuries involved. My son really likes his Heelys and looks forward to being able to take them to the park to skate.

Buy It! To learn more about Heelys and all the styles available you can visit their website, Facebook, or Twitter pages. You can purchase Heelys directly from their online store, Amazon, Zappos, and many other sporting goods stores. Be sure to check out their deals page for special savings!

Heelys is throwing a Black Friday special!! Between Nov 25-Nov 28, Buy any pair of Heelys, get the second pair for $25. Or buy a Nano, and get a pair of shoes for $25, and get free ground shipping on all orders!
