About
Welcome to Guide to Smart Shopping! I’m happy to have you here and allow you to get to know my family and I more.
About Guide to Smart Shopping:
Guide to Smart Shopping came to be through my love of frugal living. Although I’ve grown to love being frugal it didn’t start out because I wanted to be cheap but rather as a means to feed our family during a rough time in our life. I started clipping coupons, stockpiling, recycling, and growing our own food in order for us to survive. After we got past that rough period I didn’t stop being frugal, if anything I managed to get worse. I enjoyed the thrill of the deal and the extra money it left in my pocket. You can’t fault a girl for that right?!
On Guide to Smart Shopping, I share frugal living tips, shopping deals, coupons, product reviews, and giveaways with a little bit of family madness mixed in. I enjoy networking with others and am involved in most social media platforms.
About My Family:
My name is Bridget, I’m 29 years old and live in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Virginia. I’m currently a full time undergraduate student majoring in Marketing. I started blogging in early 2009 after walking away from my full time work at home job and my business of ten years. Although I loved my job and my business I wanted more for myself and my family. I wanted to pursue my love of other things and see where it led me. I love to travel, cook, bake, entertain, and write. I’m a food network junkie; especially the cake shows. I like to pretend I can decorate cakes and make several for my family each year.
I’m married to the most amazing man in the world, my husband of five years, Brad. We met in high school 13 years ago and have been together ever since. By day he works in construction driving a truck. He loves being outdoors and getting dirty. That’s his thing. By night, he is an amazing custom fabricator, he has the ability to envision something then sit down and make it. He simply amazes me with his abilities and he’s completely self taught. He enjoys being in the garage tinkering on trucks, his sport bike, and ATV’s. He has a show truck and we show it several times a year during the summer.
Our oldest child, Brendan is 8 years old. Two years ago he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome which is a form of Autism. He also suffers from Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and hearing loss. Brendan is extremely intelligent for his age, he teaches us something new every day. He is a huge gamer; he has just about every game system out and hundreds of video games. We introduced him to games at age three to help stimulate his hand-eye coordination, strategic planning, and give him something to do with his hands (at that time he was twirling his hair to the point he had bald spots). He loves all things science, art and drawing, thrill rides, action heroes, and motorcycles. He has an unexplainable love for his sister. He is an amazing kid and I’m proud to be his mom.
The youngest and newest member of our family, our sweet baby girl, Brooklyn. She is 13 months old and is just a ray of sunshine. She is always smiling and laughing. She likes to show off and make people smile. No matter where we go she always manages to capture peoples attention. She is very much a girly girl and is defiantly a diva; she wants the attention to be all on her. She only a year old and already has daddy and bubby wrapped around her finger. Smart girl!

Hi Bridget this is Linda from Contestgirl.
It’s been a while since your giveaways have been listed on my website. I hope you’ll tell me about any new ones you have – I’ll be happy to included them in my listings. I have a new form that will make it easier for both of us. Here’s the URL:
http://www.contestgirl.com/newGiveaway.pl?code=SK3nv9lKW9d
Note that ‘code’ in the URL is personalized for Guide to Smart Shopping. If you use the link above, the form will remember selected fields the next time you use it so you won’t have to type them in each time. It will remember your site name, restrictions, your site URL and so on. I hope you’ll find it makes it easier for you.
It will be easier for me because the new form does a lot more error checking – it makes sure all fields are completed and validates things like the date format. With this in place, I will be able to almost guarantee that your giveaway will be included in my sweepstakes listing the next day.
This form is new and I’m trying it out on just a few sites for now. If you have any problem with it please tell me right away.
Cheers,
Linda
